Hailing from Mumbai, India, Pooja Katara moved to Scotland to study Architecture at the GSA, and was awarded the prestigious Chairs Medal at graduation in recognition of her outstanding Masters thesis project. Following graduation, Pooja used this same thesis project as a starting point for SENSEcity, an innovative experience design studio which she founded in 2018. Based in Glasgow, the studio develops unique visitor experiences for cultural and heritage destinations around the UK, utilising cutting-edge Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
In the last five years, the SENSEcity team have showcased their projects at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, and have won a host of awards from sector leaders including Innovate UK, Scottish Edge and Tech Nation. SENSEcity is now part of Glasgow’s Smart Things Accelerator Centre, Scotland’s largest ‘Internet of Things’ accelerator programme, and counts Historic Environment Scotland, City Sightseeing and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival among its professional collaborators.
