Designer and co-founder of POTR

A flat-pack plant pot demonstrates how product thinking can reduce material use, transport impact and waste.
Alongside fellow Product Design Engineering graduate Martin Keane, Andrew Flynn co-founded POTR: an innovative self-watering plant pot inspired by traditional origami techniques.
Each POTR plant pot is made from 100% recycled polypropylene. The design uses over 90% less material than a traditional plant pot, while its flat-pack construction has reduced the product’s transport carbon footprint by 100 times.
Andrew developed POTR alongside his post-graduation work as an industrial designer at Dyson. The company officially launched in 2019 and has since received a range of awards, including Sustainable Product of the Year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2024.
In 2023 Andrew returned to GSA as a part-time lecturer in Product Design Engineering, sharing his experience of working in industry and successfully bringing a new product to market.
